Foxxtrot chapter two

A young kit glanced curiously to the grey sky. His soft whit fur bristled ad fluffed out strongly against the strong wind. His cloud-gray paws kneaded the ground roughly, and tore the earth with his small claws. His blood-red bandana swayed harshly against the cold breeze. He curled his small, bushy tail around his paws and glanced up to the sky once more. His green eyes flooded with longing.
A sturdy dark gray fox stood over him proudly. The young kit glanced up, only to see a light grey underside and a large black nose. The kit smiled warmly, “father, what’s the whit stuff falling from the sky?” He gave his father a questioning glance. The kit’s father was the very brave protector Black-claw.
Black-claw look down to his son. Around his muscular neck was a tight leather collar, with small, yet sharp spikes. A large cross dangled down from the middle of his collar, like a pendant. Long fur drooped heavily over his right eye, hiding many a years of battle scars. The fur grew long around his neck and was pulled back by a tattered white cloth. His big, dark-gray, bushy tail swayed softly in the wind, and his dark golden eyes held certain wisdom.
Black-claw set a sturdy black paw on the kit’s head. “Oh, my little Ryo-mizu, the frigid white is called snow; it falls in the winter and covers the world in a white blanket.” He whispered softly to the kit, a warm smile crossing his face. Ryo-mizu tilted his head in confused state, “What’s winter? Is it something we can eat? “Black-claw shook his head and grinned. “No, winter is when the winds are cold, and the water becomes frozen. Maybe you should ask Sagome, she would be able to tell you how coconut created the seasons.” He smiled and nosed him softly on the back. “Now go off and find her.” He pricked his ears and watch as Ryo-mizu dashed off to go find the other pups, preparing to listen to a wonderful story

Sagome snarled in great irritation, “It’s not my fault that plump rabbit got away! Snow is hard to run in!” Odd-nose smiled, “No, its no your fault at all. You just put to much weight on your paws, that’s all.” Kuro stepped in front of Sagome, his eyes held a furious look. “So you’re saying it is her fault. I think you’re just a horrible teacher!”
Odd-nose pushed himself forward until a black and red tail smacked him on the nose. “What was that---“
“Shh, something’s coming.”
Odd-nose strained his ears forward, trying hard to listen. He could hear small patters, small crunches, galloping towards them. Then he heard small yips and barks, he turned to Sagome and scoffed childishly, “it’s just the pups, nothing to worry about.”
Kuro snarled “You’re dumbfounded, lost your sense of smell to, huh!” Sagome’s eyes lit with excitement. “Apparently your sense of smell has disappeared all together!” Kuro crouched down, his pelt bristling out. Sagome snarled under breath. “You stupid fool, there’s dogs coming.”
Odd-nose’s eyes opened widely. “That’s right, “he exclaimed loudly, “I told Kankumatsu about the dogs earlier, apparently they’ve returned.”
Kuro snapped “If you know so much, then you need to warn the tribe! Stop stalling and sound the call!” Kuro’s fangs bore hatefully towards odd-nose. Odd-nose breathed in deeply and let out a long yip. Now the tribe would be aware of danger. Sagome smirked devilishly and flexed her paws “That’s our cue” She bounded through the snow quickly. Kuro trampled off, and Odd-nose bounded afterwards.
Odd-nose’s speed increased as he skidded down a huge slope. He stopped and lifted his nose to the air. “Sagome, I can’t smell anything.”
Sagome sat still, her ears and nose erect, keeping out for anything that might help to find their enemies. Without warning, she bounded forward, “Quickly, now, they have Ryo-mizu, He’s in danger!”
Kuro snarled, “Tch, can’t find prey, take a kit instead?! Foolish dogs.” Odd-nose’s pelt bristled against the wind. The intensity of the three seemed to strike the cold itself. Odd-nose grew hot under his pelt. He felt like a fool not to patrol sooner, and now, the worst outcome came to be.
“Move back! They’re coming now!” Sagome barked harshly. Kuro’s eyes blazed with excitement, “Finally, some worthy opponents!” The snow crunched repeatedly. Barking and howling sounded in the distance, and slowly grew closer. Sagome tore across the bitter cold snow like the wind blowing swiftly across the land. Kuro leapt to his paws, waiting for Odd-nose to follow.
Odd-nose grew tense. Another battle to face, and yet he had to hatch his steps. Because now a member of his tribe was being placed on the line. And he couldn’t force more trouble on the kit. The dogs were in eye shot now. Odd-nose tore roughly through the snow. He unsheathed his claws and leapt boldly into the air, knocking down a small orange and cream shiba inu.  The dogs face blundered into the snow, and his orange forehead became covered with bitter white snow.  The dog’s forehead was plastered with large scars, as if a large cat had got a hold of him. Odd-nose knew this disgusting dog, he snarled irritably, “Goku, why are you on our territory once more!” Odd-nose knew that Goku was new to dog tribe. Goku had recently joined dog tribe after being abandoned by his owners. He still had a tattered collar that had cream clouds printed on dark green.  Goku winced in pain as Odd-nose dug his claws into his flesh.
Sagome was very hesitant. A wolf sized dog grabbed her by the tail and forced her deeply into the snow with a heavy paw. Sagome shuddered endlessly, frozen with fear. Odd-nose glanced back at Sagome. The blue furred dog clenched Sagome’s scruff tightly in her mouth, biting down with great pressure. Blood oozed slowly from the wound as a whine escaped Sagome’s mouth. Suddenly, Sagome was released for the dogs grasp, and a loud whine escaped from the dog’s mouth. Sagome glanced up, as Odd-nose glared with furry.
Kuro looked twice his size with his pelt bristled on end. His fur whipped harshly back and forth with the wind. His fangs gleamed in the weak sunlight, glinting with dark red dog blood. His claws ripped and tore harshly against her flank and shoulder blades. A savage look came across his eyes. Kuro was clinging tightly to the dog, Blue, refusing to release his grip on her. Blue was once of wolf tribe, but was kicked out due to being part dog. And now here she was scavenging from fox tribe.  Blue howled sharply, her fur was now covered with dark crimson, covered in her own blood. She shook fiercely as Kuro finally released her. He arched his back and bolted after her, snarling and baring his fangs, doused in her blood. Blues ears folded back and she bolted off, her tail tucked tightly between her legs.
Odd-nose pressed his nose against Goku’s harshly. His lips curled back to show pearly white fangs and a snarl rumbled loudly from his chest.  “If you know what’s best for you, you’ll give us back Ryo-mizu, or you’ll pay with your life!” He slid his claws slowly down Goku’s throat; just enough to draw a few drops of blood.
Goku snarled viciously, “You’re nothing but a pip-squeak fox! What can you do to me?!” Odd-nose lifted his other paw and placed it down roughly onto Goku’s throat. His claws unsheathed and dug deeply into his throat. Blood drizzled now, dotting the snow with crimson. “Because, unlike other foxes, I can kill you with great ease.” He smirked and swiped his tongue across his fangs swiftly.
Sagome rose slowly to her paws. Her ears folded back and a whine escaped her. “Odd-nose, behind you!”
Odd-nose glanced back. A huge paw batted him behind the ears, and his claws released Goku instantly. He slid roughly in the snow, slowly falling along as well. A huge tan dog stood over him; his ears were floppy and had patches of cream on them.  His black nose sniffed Odd-nose softly as he bent over and lifted Odd-nose up by the scruff. His eyes were closed tightly, making it hard to read his expression. Odd-nose’s dazed eyes glanced up slowly. His green eyes blazed with furry.
Goku got back up to his paws, blood dying all his neck fur red. Crimson flooded over his color and painted the snow red once more. Goku lowered his head and folded his ears back, “Lord Miakumatsu,” The dog looked back, his tan pelt covered with white snow. He curled his lips back, barking furiously, “When I say get food, I don’t mean hunt in another tribe’s territory! Give them back their kit, or I’ll feed you to our tribe!”
Goku shrieked back, his tail pressed against his belly, “Right away sir!” He ran quickly to a small bush a few meters away.  Softly he poked his head in and pulled out the small grey and white kit. Hesitantly, he limped back towards Sagome and placed the kit down, an awkward smile ceased his face. Sagome lowered her head, bared her fangs and thrust herself forward, sending of a warning to the dog. Goku tensed and dashed back quickly to Miakumatsu.
Goku’s head lay low against his chest. Miakumatsu snarled, and then turned to Sagome, a regretful look in his posture. “I’m sorry for my foolish tribe members; tell Kankumatsu that I will see that they get a proper and painful punishment.” Sagome nodded her head, and looked to Ryo-mizu, “I will do that sir.”
Miakumatsu turned his back and walked the way the wind blew. Snow buffeted them all and covered their pelts with specks of white snow. Sagome licked Ryo-mizu’s head softly and smiled. “Are you alright?” Ryo-mizu smiled and looked up to her once more. His soft eyes melted into hers. “I’m fine,” he yipped, “the dogs told me they’d help me find you….what happened to your scruff Sagome?” Sagome smiled and shook her head.
“It’s a little scratch, nothing to worry about, but right now, I want to get you home so we can let Black-claw and River-paw know you’re safe.” She lifted him softly by the scruff, signaled that it was time to go, and trotted with Kuro and Odd-nose following behind her.
