FOXXTROT CHAPTER TEN
                     The rain continued to crash,soaking the mud  and making it cling tightly to fur and paws. Sagome couldn’t sleep, and she had to get some rest. The moon appeared every now and again and reminded her that they would leave in a matter of time. Odd-nose noticed  Sagome, sitting silently in the rain, as if it were washing away a part of her she didn’t want. Odd-nose stepped forward, his dark pelt clung tightly to his body and made his paws  feel  like stone.  With every paw step, there was a slosh of water and a patter of rain.  His nose twitched, absorbing the scent of earthworms that stuck with the rain. He hated this smell of all smells, it was the only smell that was as strong as blood. His paws felt sticky, but he ignored it. He sat next to Sagome and stared at her, she seemed upset, her eyes surley reflected such depression. They seemed almost hollow. Odd-nose shifted about, trying to make his presense known.  
                          “you’re gonna get sick if you stay out here in the rain all night.” Sagome seemed like she snapped to reality. Her eyes began to shimmer, realizing she wasn’t alone. “Odd-nose…” Odd-nose gave a gentle smile, then gave a grunt. “Gah, sagome-chan, isn’t it cold out here, my fur is prickling.” Her shook vigorously, then gave an odd look, sagome laughed softly. “I suppose it is,” she frowned, “but I can’t get any rest.” Odd-nose stared at his paws, at least she was talking to him. He lifted his head and licked her ear softly, in a comforting way. His eyes glew with assurance, “ If you need, I’m here.” Sagome stared at his dark-green eyes then nodded softly. “I feel like I’ve betrayed him Odd-nose.” Odd-nose coxed his head to the side, then pricked his ears quickly, “Kuro?” Sagome nodded, her head hung down to her chest. Odd-nose shook his head, then yipped quickly, “hey,” she pricked, then glanced to him. “Yeah?”
                                  “He trusts you.” He patted her paws, the trotted off. He felt that was all he could say, the only thing that actally meant something to her. After all, it was the truth, and nothing more then that. Sagome stood, staring thoughtfully at Odd-nose, he was right, Kuro must have trusted her, he did get rest after all. She strode silently, the rain still crashing down on them. She stopped, and sniffed slightly, earthworms and a hint of ganabe. She stood stiffly, waiting for him to appear. The rain made his silver pelt seem dulled down to a dirty gray. He stared at her, his golden eyes pierced the night. She smiled, then bolted after him. Ganabe smiled and ran off. Then he skid to a stop and put a paw on her head. “hey kid, get some rest, I know you guys have to leave at sunrise, so you need the rest.” Sagome nodded, more comforted at what odd-nose had said though. She crept in quickly into the sandy ditches, Kuro jumped at her soaked fur, she apologized and nuzzled closley to him. A slight smile came across her face, and sleep dragged her into black.

                        Sagome moaned loudly, “ I’m sick of walking ,and I haven’t had a bite to eat since yesterday.” She snarled, obviously irritable at this point. Kuro sighed. “Hush up, we still have to head to coyote tribe, maybe we’ll get a bite then.” Dark-paw chimed in, “Hes right you know.” Sanzo nodded softly. “Besides, they are our commrades. They will let us stay for as long as we’d like.”  Odd-nose nodded. Sagome sighed.  “but my paws hurt, and my belly fills empty.” Kuro snarled, “Oh all you ever do is complain, suck it up, you can’t  become stronger at all if all you do is complain, sagome.” Sagome nodded, hanging her head. She stopped, so did everyone else. Sanzo began to bristle. Kuro curled his lips back and bared his fangs along with odd-nose, and dark paw just pricked her ears and kept her claws unsheathed.
                                               Sagome then stopped, her eyes widened and all her instincts told her to run. “GO YOU GUYS!” A large creature rose to its paws, it looked like a tree, or almost as tall as one.  Sagome bristled, “GO  GO GO.” Sanzo ignored her, and took the first leap. He opened his jaws tightly and bit the creature viciously at it’s rounded ears. It let out a great roar. Sagome shook her head and jumped quickly to her paws. She swipped bitterly at the creatures paws, and the creater stepped back and fell onto its front paws, almost crushing her.  She whimpered, her tail was cought. Odd-nose and kuro dashed quickly and leapt onto the creatures back, tearing at its thick fur, making it shake vigorously, trying to rid itself of its pests. Dark-paw smirked, she took the frontal assult and leapt to its broad muzzle, then quickly she swatted its eyes. It fell back ,its large paws trying to rid its eyes of the blood. “NOW RUN.” They all dashed quickly, crossing wolf border faster then they exprected.
                                              Sagome stumbled then whimpered loudly. It hurt to move her tail at all. The small group stared at her. Sanzo sighed, he couldn’t do anything, he was to exaughsted. Kuro and Odd-nose seemed worried, they glanced at one another. Kuro stepped forward then licked sagomes head softly. “you gonna be ok.” Sagome shook her head slightly, “no, I think my tail is broken….” Kuro frowned. “Want me to carry you?” Sagome shook her head, she had to deal with the pain. “I just might be a little wobbly, that’s all.”She attmepted to stand, and toppled to the right a lightly, kuro pressed himself against her, then stood her up. “Me and odd-nose will make sure you don’t fall.” Sagome nodded. She wagged her one tail, her other lay limp on the ground. She stared at it. “It’ll hurt more if we drag it.” She frowned. “lets head out.” She ran quickly, the other two trailed next to her. Constantly she tripped, but she mangaed.

      Coyote tribe at last. Sagome smiled. She walked in, and explained the situation once more. Mizukasa nodded his head, he was leader of coyote tribe and he understood. Their land was interesting. A large area of nothing but plains, rarley a tree in sight. Sagome stared out. All was exposed here, how could they live in this place were the trees don’t shade them from the sun? The rain had finally let up. She stared, the earth was stiff here.  It made her uneasy for some reason.
